Celebration of the Arts
Visual Arts There is plenty to see for those who appreciate the visual arts. The Uxbridge Studio Tour is known as one of the GTA's best Studio Tours( Sept 15th & 16th)and features painters, sculptors, jewellers, fabric artists, photographers and more. There is a Juried Art Show with 52 selected works from artist across Ontario and a Children's Art Show featuring the works of our talented children at the Uxbridge Municipal Offices (on the 18th of Sept.) Music Presentations Include a gala Bellows and Brass concert with Guy Few on trumpet, Eric Valincourt on trombone and Joseph Petric on accordion. This trio plays everything from light to classic to an operatic spoof, providing fun and entertainment to all music lovers. If your preference goes to Jazz in a bistro setting you can enjoy a cabaret evening of outstanding local talent including Tom Baker Pianist, Amy Peck saxophonist and her group, vocalist Whitney Barris, Piano virtuoso B.J. Byers, and stylist Carol Gibson.
Theatre For the theatre lover there is the hilarious comedy "La Cage aux Folles" and for the children theatre a story about five misunderstood bugs who try to convince the kids they are not creepy crawlers, but good guys in "The Bug Show". Film A short film festival to be presented at the Roxy with prize winning films from the "Toronto Short Film Festival" with some of the actors and directors in attendance. Books and Authors Three of Canada's top authors, Gail Anderson-Dargatz, Ray Robertson, and Susannna Kearsley read from their new books and chat with you.
